Lokari, a remote tribal village in Adilabad mandal, on Thursday, became another habitation in the district with all its homes boasting of solar home lighting system.
The Telangana Grameena Bank, Adilabad main branch, and Thrive Solar Energy Systems Private Ltd. of Hyderabad distributed 300 home lighting systems to Gond tribal villagers here free of cost. The TGB main branch also facilitated supply of fruit trees to each of the 150 houses in the Lokari to promote cultivation of fruits.
Backward Classes Welfare and Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna distributed the solar lighting system, fruit saplings and also a cheque for Rs. 40 lakh to local self help groups for establishment of a dairy.
‘Renew crop loans’
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister asked farmers to renew their crop loans so that they become eligible for the second instalment of loan waiver. He also asked them to take up dairying as a means of livelihood.
TGB Chairman B.R.G. Upadhyaya, who earlier paid a special visit to the high performance TGB Ramnagar branch, said the TGB was always accessible to farmers. Boath MLA Rathod Bapu Rao and TGB Main Branch, Chief Manager, T. Laxmaiah and others attended.
