Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao wanted all the farmers of Telangana to learn cultivation methods and cropping patterns from the farmers of this agriculturally rich village to improve productivity and achieve self-sufficiency.
Showering praises on this village in Armoor mandal on his first visit after becoming Chief Minister, he said the cropping pattern being followed by farmers here was ideal for all villages. Farmers here had never hankered after paddy cultivation and achieved good yields in commercial crops using low quantity of water, he said in his interaction with the farming community on Thursday.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister sanctioned additional platforms at market yard, a Panchayat Raj road, farm ponds, drip scheme, turmeric harvesters and solar fencing scheme to protect crops from wild boars, all worth about Rs.5 crore to the village.
Incognito visitRecollecting his first visit to the village way back in 1986, he said then he had arrived here after becoming MLA of Siddipet. “I came alone driving my Fiat car and introduced myself as a journalist from Hyderabad. I was really thrilled to know that farmers here had fixed deposits worth about Rs.10 crore in two banks,” he said.
“While leaving the village I disclosed my identity. The villagers said they would have felicitated me had I revealed earlier,” he said and offered to stay at the village on some other day and enjoy the famous non-veg dish named after it.
