Land for park being used as dump yard

May 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:37 am IST

A large tract of land at New Bhoiguda was earmarked for a park near St. Philomena School decades ago, but it’s still not been materialised in spite of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials having visited the site many times in the past.

And from the last few years, the space has become a dump yard, resulting in an unpleasant sight and stench emanating all the time.

Notwithstanding the fact that property taxes are collected by the GHMC every year on time, the assigned land for the park is also being used by anti-social elements, who trouble the nearby residents. Representations to the GHMC have failed, and I appeal to the State government to direct the municipal body to build a park on the assigned land immediately.

Lousy road work at Netaji Nagar

The long-awaited repairs to certain roads at Netaji Nagar in Kapra municipality are nothing but a patch work. The terms on which the works are taken up and its scope are not known. But we are sure that the bills of the agency are getting cleared stating that it is a full-fledged repair work.

It would be good if Somesh Kumar, GHMC Commissioner and Special officer, deputes one of his officials to check the repair works and report back to him so that the road repair works are known to him. It can also be checked by him whether this sort of a thing is a regular feature.
