KTR to devote more time to party affairs

‘Aim is to bridge the communication gap between party leadership and people’s representatives

Realising that the communication gap between Telangana ministers and MLAs and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is leading to unnecessary speculation, TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has decided to devote more time to people’s representatives and the party cadre.

Sudden outburst

The sudden outburst of Health Minister Eatala Rajender, perceived to be against his party leadership, has sent wrong signals to the cadre and gave enough ammunition to the opposition parties to claim that dissent was brewing in the party and it might explode any time.

Ministers and MLAs who met KTR after Mr. Rajender’s episode seem to have expressed the view that the communication gap between the higher leadership and the people’s representatives would only harm the party. Taking their suggestions into consideration, Mr Rama Rao assured them that his visits to Telangana Bhavan would increase.

Despite clarifications issued by Mr. Rajender expressing his complete faith in KCR’s leadership, his comments seem to have made a huge impact on the cadre, particularly those from the Backward Classes. Party seems to be worried more about the perception created rather than the harm caused, which is difficult to gauge in the present circumstances.

Moreover, rumours of Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao being sidelined are also prevalent on the social media and Mr. Rajender’s statements added fuel to the fire. Social media went berserk with its speculation and absence of reliable information created confusion among the cadre.

“To negate that perception the contact between the top leadership and ministers and MLAs must increase. KCR is almost inaccessible and KTR should plug that gap to hear out the MLAs and issues in their constituencies,” said a senior leader, wishing anonymity.

KTR, on his part, has been trying to reach out to the cadre after the ‘disappointing’ results in the Lok Sabha elections. The membership drive ignited activity in the party and his visits to districts also increased.

The four-hour-long meeting with the party general secretaries a few days ago would show how KTR was spending more time for the party, a functionary close to him said.
