KCR wants AP Express renamed

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has requested Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu to change the name of Hyderabad–New Delhi– Hyderabad AP Express to ‘Telangana Express’ and create a new railway division at Kazipet.

The name change and the railway division were among several suggestions and a specific complaint in the implementation of Hyderabad metro rail by Mr. Rao to Mr. Prabhu when the latter called on him at the Secretariat today. South Central Railway general manager P.K. Srivastava was also present.

Mr. Rao made certain new proposals to the Minister that could be included in the railway works programmes for 2015-16. They were, sanction of new railway lines between Gadwal - Macherla and Pandurangapuram – Bhadrachalam and setting up railway university at Warangal.

He sought construction of rail over bridges and rail under bridges at 15 level crossings.

He asked the railways to start at the earliest construction of a rail coach factory in the State as assured in the bifurcation law. The State government will provide the requisite land.

The work on construction of a wagon factory at Kazipet which was sanctioned in 2012-13 had not yet started, he said.
