TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has said that the party will play a role in elections in Andhra Pradesh in the coming months by either contesting itself or supporting some other party.

At the press conference on Tuesday, Mr. Rao said he will go to Andhra Pradesh “cent per cent” to reciprocate State Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s canvassing in Telangana. It is like a birthday gift which he had to return. Mr. Naidu gave him a gift and he was obliged to return it, he said.

He also said he will reply to the charges of Mr. Naidu during electioneering when the former visited Vijayawada as part of his own campaign. It was the wish of people of Andhra Pradesh that the TRS played a role in elections there.

The TRS leaders received over a lakh phone calls from that State complimenting the party on its victory and wanting it to play a role in elections there.

“Mr. Naidu-led TDP participated in elections in Telangana, fulfilling its responsibility in a Telugu speaking State. Don’t I have a responsibility to fulfil for the welfare of people of another Telugu speaking State,” he asked.

The Opposition tarnished political atmosphere in Telangana by targeting its irrigation projects. He felt the State will come out of it but it did not happen, he said.
