In a welcome gesture, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday morning left for Amaravati to attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new capital from Suryapet in Nalgonda district.
Mr. Rao, who had accepted the invitation extended by AP Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday at the Chief Minister’s camp office in Begumpet flew by a special chopper from SV College grounds in Suryapet. He was accompanied by his cabinet colleagues Deputy Chief Minister Md. Mahaboob Ali, Finance Minister Etela Rajender and Energy Minister G.Jagadish Reddy.
Earlier, the Telangana Chief Minister had reached Suryapet on Wednesday evening after overnight stay at the residence of Mr. Jagadish Reddy. He left for Amaravati at 10.15 am and will return to Suryapet immediately after the function to lay the foundation stone for 2BHK housing scheme. Later, he will fly down to Yerravelli to participate in Dasara festivities.
Telangana Congress leaders’ skip
Meanwhile, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee leaders skipped the Amaravati fete in tune the decision taken by their AP counterparts, who boycotted the function. Instead, the Telangana Congress leaders launched a scathing attack on Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao for going to Amaravati charging that he had insulted the Telangana martyrs by accepting the invitation of AP Chief Minister.
However, the TDP leaders led by TTDP president L.Ramana, working President A.Revanth Reddy and scores of leaders from Telangana reached Amaravati to attend the function.
