Karimnagar has been ranked 11th in the country and second in Telangana, among cities with less than five lakh population, in the ‘Ease of Living Index’ survey conducted by the Union government.

At a programme in New Delhi on Monday, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri released the survey results.

Hyderabad secured 27th rank and Warangal 61st rank in the all-India survey conducted across 111 cities by the Ministry on four parameters — governance, social institutions, economic and physical infrastructure.

Karimnagar secured third rank in governance, fourth place in safety and security, eighth place in assured water supply and fourth spot in reduced pollution.

Municipal Commissioner K. Shashanka attributed the feat to collective efforts on the part of residents, elected representatives and government officials.

The Ease of Living assessment standards are linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and will provide a boost to India’s efforts for systematic tracking of SDGs in urban areas.
