Water from Kaleswaram project will reach the Nizam Sagar Project by June 2018 as the work on Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla reservoirs are in full swing, Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said.

Out of the 43 kilometre long channel between the Mid Maneru and Mallannasagar 33 kilometre is tunnel, of which 32 kilometer was already completed and only one kilometer tunnelling work is to be completed, he said while addressing a press conference here on Thursday.

“Recently I had visited the project sites. The 12 km-long over ground canal work was complete in that part. Going by the speed of the execution I believe it would be over by June next year. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has been monitoring the progress of work through a video link from Hyderabad and the Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao is regularly visiting the project sites,” he added.

Palamuru and Dindi lift schemes and Bhakta Ramadas and Seetharama projects were also nearing completion. If all these projects were complete the TRS government would be able to provide water to 1 crore acres within a short time, he said.

Mr. Srinivas Reddy charged the Congress party with creating hurdles by moving the court, filing cases even in the names of dead persons, as it was unable to digest the fact that the TRS government was completing the work that they could not do during their regime. If it did not desist from such nefarious acts farmers would not allow them to enter villages, he said.

Listing out various developmental and welfare schemes being implemented in the State the Minister said that enumeration of arable land of farmers to extend ₹4,000 per acre investment as announced by the Chief Minister would come to an end by June 10. From next May ₹4,000 per acre would be remitted directly to individual accounts of farmers for two times in a year, he said.

MLC V.G. Goud was also present in the press meet.
