YSR Congress president Y.S Jaganmohan Reddy continued his fast demanding Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh for the sixth day even as his health condition deteriorated and is leading to an alarming condition called as ``Starvation Ketoacidoisis,’’ which, doctors said, could lead to serious complications including renal failure.
The alarming health condition of the YSRC president triggered emotional scenes at the venue when a local man Sai tried to immolate himself but was prevented by the police.
Senior party leaders Y. Vijay Sai Reddy, Botcha Satyanarayana, Ummareddy Venkateswarlu and Marri Rajasekhar were at the venue and were discussing the future course of action in the event, Mr. Jagan was shifted forcibly by the police.
The police, meanwhile, are watching the situation and indications were that police forces could be moved to the venue late on Monday night. Superintendent of Police, Guntur Urban, Sarva Srestha Tripathi was holding meetings with senior officers on the action plan to be adopted in the eventuality of Mr. Jagan being shifted.
In all likelihood, the YSRC president might be shifted to GGH, Guntur.
“Mr. Jagan’s ketone levels are showing an abnormal level which could lead to multiple organic failure. This is a medical emergency and calls for immediate treatment,’’ said a emergency physician.
Meanwhile, members of family Y.S Vijayamma, Y.S Bharati and others rushed to Guntur.
They said rapidly deteriorating health of Jagan was worrying and appealed to the Central and the State governments to make an announcement of special category status immediately.
