YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy has alleged that the Andhra Pradesh government has completely failed in helping the people affected by Hudhud cyclone in the State as several villages in North Coastal Andhra are still groping in darkness due to the delay in restoration of power supply.

Speaking after meeting Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi on Sunday along with party MPs Y.V. Subba Reddy, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy and Y.S. Avinash Reddy, he said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had not showed interest he had in making his confidante Y.S. Chowdary a Union Minister in providing succour to the cyclone victims.

He faulted Mr. Naidu for not taking up the rehabilitation issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi after sending a report seeking assistance from the Centre. Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy requested the Union Minister to enhance the Centre’s assistance to AP to help the cyclone-affected people.

In a representation submitted to Mr. Rajnath Singh the YSRC president also sought payment of Rs. 5 lakh ex gratia each to the kin of those who lost their lives in the cyclone, reconstruction of damaged houses by the government and sanction of pucca houses as long term solution, suitable compensation for loss of animals and poultry birds and relief through ration and monetary assistance to all wage seekers in rural areas who suffered/continue to suffer loss of wage-employment.

Further, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy also requested compensation to fishermen who lost their boats and nets during the cyclone, weavers for loss of their looms and raw material and allocation of funds for de-silting and soil restoration of agricultural lands in the flood-affected areas.
