IT Grids staff produced before HC

The Telangana High Court closed the habeas corpus petition on four employees of IT Grids (India) Pvt. Ltd. after the persons were produced before the Telangana High Court on Monday.

The petition was filed by IT Grids CEO Ashok Dakavaram, who alleged that the four were detained illegally by the Cyberabad police. The four presented themselves before a Division Bench comprising Justice Ragvendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Shameem Akther at Justice Singh’s residence, as it was a court holiday on account of Maha Sivaratri.

On Sunday the court directed the Telangana police to produce the four — Regonda Bhaskar, Phani Kadukuri, Vikram Goud Rebbala and Gurudu Chandra Sekhar — following the petition by Mr. Ashok.

The four employees informed the Bench that they were not detained by the police and had not been taken to the police station, following which the court closed the petition, Telangana Advocate General B.S. Prasad told the media.

The employees of the IT firm told the Bench that they were furnished notice under Section 160 (Police officer’s power to require the attendance of witnesses) of the Code Of Criminal Procedure, and the police told them that they would be required for recording their statements.
