The rural police busted an inter-State dacoity and house-breaking gang by arresting three of the nine members, here on Thursday. They also recovered property worth Rs.10 lakh from those arrested.
Giving details of the gang and its offences at a press conference, Deputy IG of Police Y. Gangadhar said that it was involved in several robberies, dacoities, house-breaking and even a rape in Medak, Nizamabad and Maharashtra over a period of time.
The arrested were identified as Dandla Babu of Makloor mandal in the district, Lakshman Peeraji of Nanded district, and Jogudandi Vikas of Beed district in Maharashtra. Gold ornaments weighing 27 tolas, 2-kg silver, one Maruti car and three motorbikes were recovered from them.
Other six members of the gang - Bheema, Deglur Maruthi, Chand, Sathnam Singh, Karnam Singh and Dandla Maruthi, brother of Babu, are on the run. In all, 15 non-bailable warrants were pending on them, Mr. Gangadhar said.
The Deputy IG lauded the efforts of Circle Inspector of Police Muni, Sub-Inspector Ravinder Naik and others and said that the department would suitably reward them.
Superintendent of Police S. Chandrashekar Reddy, Additional SP R. Pratap Reddy and the Deputy SP D. Anand Kumar were also present.
