Magic is in his blood. Mesmerising the audience comes naturally to him. Meet P.C. Sorcar (Pouroosh), representing the third generation of renowned magician P.C. Sorcar. In this interview with MARRI RAMU , Pouroosh talks about his love for Hyderabad, especially the food and the weather. He talks about magic, his family and starting magic schools.

How do you manage to pull crowds in the era of the Internet when kids and youngsters are attracted more towards web-based entertainment?

In fact, the Internet helped us give magic more publicity. With posts on magic and our shows available on the Internet, our popularity increased. From our side, we continue to introduce new items by blending tradition and technology.

You’re the third generation of P.C. Sorcar. Will your children too continue what the family is good at – magic?

Yes. I hope my 18-month-old son, Pourav, continues to carry forward the baton of magic. My grandfather, P.C. Sorcar, took magic from being a street show to a great art form. Magic flows in our veins. Surely, there would be another generation of the family to entertain people with magic.

How do you like Hyderabad?

I keep roaming the world but Hyderabad is one of my favourite cities.

There are multiple reasons but the medical facilities here are great. Of course, Hyderabadi food, especially the biryani, is irresistible.Your suggestion to aspiring magicians?

I believe success is 10 per cent talent and 90 per cent practice. If you keep practising, you gain mastery over magic.

Would you want to be confined to magic?

With the expertise gained by generations together, I want to start schools of magic to make great magicians. If the government gives land, I am ready to start schools in Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad.
