Manthani legislator (TRS) Putta Madhukar has set a milestone in the district by conducting padayatra to all villages and meeting people of his Assembly segment in Karimnagar district.

He launched the padayatra to thank his voters for electing him as legislator on January 1, 2015 from Kamanpur mandal. He had covered all the 122 grama panchayats of the segment and would soon conclude the yatra on May 16 after covering remaining 10 odd villages.

Manthani is the biggest Assembly segment in the district in terms of area and is close to the neighbouring Chhattisgarh State, covered with forests and once a strong bastion of the Maoists.

Undeterred by the erstwhile naxalite stronghold, the legislator had toured extensively in the naxalite affected villages and even conducted night-halt in the sensitive villages amid police security.

The padayatra had also come in handy for the legislator to know the problems being faced by the villagers here. Though, the river Godavari and Manair flows from the Manthani assembly segment, the people here suffer due to drinking water shortage.

On Sunday, Putta Madhukar conducted his padayatra in the once-naxalite stronghold of Khansaipeta village of Manthani mandal. During his tour , the legislator along with the local elected representatives visited the localities and asked people about their problems and also collected petitions.

Talking to The Hindu , Mr Madhukar said that the padayatra in all villages had helped him know and understand the problems in the constituency. He said that he was according priority for providing tap water to all the households in the constituency under the Water grid programme.

He said that he was also taking measures for the construction of bridges. Expressing satisfaction over his padayatra, he said that he could provide pensions to the beneficiaries, who were otherwise neglected.

He experienced most emotional incident when he could provide hearing aid to the tribal girl in Mahadevpur mandal through his Putta Lingamma Charitable Trust and the joy in the eyes of the girl.
