In view of arrival of three chief ministers, the State government has mobilized huge police force on either side of Godavari river to prevent any sort of attempt by the CPI-Maoists party naxals at Kaleswaram project.

Director General of Police Mahender Reddy, Superintendent of Police R. Bhaskaran and several senior officials visited the project site and went round surrounding areas here on Tuesday reviewing the security arrangements for the inaugural function of the Kaleswaram project.

The police have been on high vigil as Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is scheduled to inaugurate Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) on June 21. The project lies on the border of Maharasthra and Chattisgarh states.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and Maharasthra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and two Governors — E. S. L. Narasimhan (TS&AP) and Ch. Vidyasagar Rao (Maharashtra) — are expected to take part. The police took complete possession of surroundings of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP)’s components, including Medigadda barrage, Kannepally pump house, and Mukteeshwara Swamy temple in Kaleshwaram, to ensure no security breach during the inaugural ceremony.

The DGP reviewed the security arrangements with the top officials. He inspected Medigadda barrage, Kannepally pump house and site where inaugural ceremony and Yagam are scheduled to take place. Inspector generals Y. Nagi Reddy and Navin Chand, Pramod Kumar, M. K. Singh, SPs R. Bhaskaran (Jayashankar-Bhupalpally) and Sangram Singh G. Patil (Mulugu) were present.
