Warangal, known as an educational hub and second important city in Telangana, is poised to get a fillip with the government deciding to set up a health university naming it after the great poet Kaloji Narayana Rao.
Warangal is known for the prestigious NIT, Kakatiya University, Kakatiya Medical College and scores of engineering and pharmacy colleges.
The new health university will add to its reputation of having important institutions of higher learning. The government’s decision was hailed by people of all sections. The university, which will monitor and improve medical education in Telangana State, will also boost general development of the area.
Welcoming the decision, IMA leader Maganti Seshu Madhav said it would be an asset to Warangal. “It will create 1,500 to 2,000 jobs directly and many more indirectly. It will bring more development by way of more ancillary institutions. It attracts more experts to the district. We thank the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for choosing Warangal,” he said.
Welcoming the decision, MLA D. Vinay Bhaskar said there has been demand for a wagon factory, textile park and other industries to create jobs for local people. Never were these demands taken seriously either by Congress or TDP governments in the past. The decision to set up Health University in Warangal shows the commitment of ruling TRS government towards development of the region.
There has been jubilation all over following the announcement. Public representatives are hopeful that Warangal would find a place in the list of smart cities of the Central government.
Mr. Seshu Madhav opined that Warangal is more suitable as it is located close to the State capital Hyderabad and international airport.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister T. Rajaiah will inaugurate the temporary administrative office of Health University at Kakatiya Medical College premises on Saturday here.
Congress leader and former Warangal MP S. Rajaiah has welcomed the State government’s decision to set up Telangana State health university.
