Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president G. Vivekanand on Wednesday reminded HCA secretary T. Seshnarayan that in the wake of Justice Lodha panel recommendations, he does not hold the same powers which his predecessors enjoyed.
Speaking to the media, he said, “Justice Lodha guidelines have vested the powers of the president, secretary, joint-secretary, vice-president with the Apex Council of the State Cricket Associations. So, it is the Apex Council which has the final authority to call the shots, not the individuals,” he said.
Vivek also pointed out that Panduranga Murthy had been appointed HCA CEO as per the guidelines of the Lodha panel recommendations, and it is the latter who takes care of the day-to-day administrative affairs.
“There is no question of misappropriation. The HCA has not received the annual grant from the BCCI, which is waiting for all the Associations to adhere to the guidelines before releasing funds,” Vivek said.
He reiterated that HCA is being run in a democratic manner. “We have incorporated some of the changes suggested by the BCCI in its affidavit to the High Court with regard to implementation of Lodha panel guidelines. Some suggestions for better functioning, including agent registration which was not a subject in the HCA by-laws, the apex council has duly incorporated them,” he said.
He said a special general meeting would be convened on June 15 as per HC directions, where all the recommendations of Justice Lodha would be implemented with clarity to avoid further confusion.
“Maybe the secretary has not realised what his powers are under the new set-up. It is childish to indulge in baseless allegations about threat to his life or that he was not given a chance to speak at the Apex Council,” the president said.
“If that is the case, he or any aggrieved party can always approach the Ombudsman for remedial measures,” the HCA chief concluded.
