After its initiatives like comprehensive eye check up camps through Kanti Velugu and the proposed screening for ear, nose and throat (ENT) disorders, the State government has reportedly decided to bring all the healthcare services onto a single platform.
A dedicated portal incorporating all the health related services is being prepared to put in place a mechanism to obtain real time data on the operation of these services. The development comes after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s decision to focus on improving health sector and ensure that database of health profiles of all citizens is prepared.
The government had accordingly decided to host information relating to the progress of flagship schemes like KCR Kits, Kanti Velugu, hospitals, ambulance services, wellness centres, employees health scheme and other details on the portal. The portal will provide real time access to associated departments like the Institute of Preventive Medicine, Drugs Control Administration and State AIDS Control Society.
Senior officials told The Hindu that the work on the development of the portal was already underway and the emphasis was on the deployment of common software that can be utilised across different wings of the department. The portal was contemplated to ensure that the government will have an idea about the trends and performance of the departments on various counts. The integrated portal will enable the government to get information on the spread of epidemics or major health related issues in different parts of the State on a real time basis. It will help tackle health emergencies effectively as information on various aspects including the availability of doctors, trained personnel and equipment needed would be on hand.
