Striking a chord: Congress senior leader Gandra Venkataramana Reddy on his last day of 41-day padayatra at Gatla Kaniparthy village on Saturday.

There are no Rythu Chaitanya Yatras, the agricultural officers no more visit villages and there are no soil testing camps.

These were the complaints from farmers to the Congress leader and former chief whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy in villages during his ongoing padayatra.

“I have asked the agricultural officers as to why they are not visiting the farmers, they say they are busy with the land record verification which is actually the job of Revenue Department,” Mr. G.V. Reddy told crowds that thronged his entourage during the past 41 days in over 199 villages.

Speaking to The Hindu on Sunday here, he said the farmers were left in the lurch. The TRS government lost connection with the farmers in villages. “Except for propaganda, nothing is happening in rural areas on ground.

The ground reality is totally different from what Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is trying to portray,” he said.

Mr. Ramana Reddy said there was no regular review of development or welfare programmes and there was no accountability.

The ruling party cadre was behaving arrogantly demeaning the needy. Not just the farming community, the educated unemployed youth too feel ditched by Mr. KCR. The much expected jobs did not come as there was no recruitment as promised and corruption was rampant at every level, he opined.

“During my Rhythu Bharosa Padayatra for the past over one month, I see people vexed with this government that is engaged in presenting a rosy picture. They are eager to defeat this TRS government,” he pointed out.

The Congress leader also faced the ire of people at Ramagundapalli village where the youth questioned him as to why he failed to bring the road that was promised by him. He patiently explained to them that he tried his best and as the process was going on there was change in the government. He promised to deliver it this time without fail.

Mr. Ramana Reddy undertook the padayatra to explain to people how the TRS government failed to deliver its promises and what the Congress party would do if elected to power in Telangana in 2019 elections.

He had completed touring seven mandals travelling 756 kilometres.
