Housing Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy and Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna on Friday celebrated the Gandhi Jayanti by garlanding the statue of the Mahatma at Gandhi Park in Nirmal. They also garlanded the statue at Ellapalli village near Nirmal, while taking part in the mass tree plantation programme.

At Adilabad, different sections of society celebrated Gandhiji’s birth anniversary by garlanding his statues and washing it with milk. Mainly, the Arya Vysya Samaj, the BJP and the BJYM celebrated the anniversary.

At Ellapalli village, the Minister and Collector M. Jagan Mohan participated in the literacy and sanitation programme. At Adelli of Sarangapur mandal, they took part in the ‘Telanganaku Haritha Haram’ programme.

Karimnagar Special Correspondent adds: Rich tributes were paid to the Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on the occasion of his birth anniversary in various parts of Karimnagar district on Friday.

Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar, Zilla Parishad chairperson Tula Uma, Mayor S. Ravinder Singh, Collector Neetu Prasad and others garlanded the statue of Mahatma and paid floral tributes at the Rampur locality in Karimnagar.

The Collector and DRO Veerabrahmaiah had also paid floral tributes by garlanding the statue of Gandhi on the Collectorate premises.

The NTPC Ramagundam also celebrated the birth anniversary of Mahatma by paying floral tributes and recollecting his service during the freedom movement through non-violence.

GMs Ram Kubher and S.R. Bhasvaraju, Deepthi Mahila Society president Sujata Mohapatra and others participated in the celebrations.

DCC president K. Mruthyunjayam and others paid floral tributes to Gandhi by garlanding his portrait at the Congress party office. Town Congress president K. Rajashekhar garlanded the statue at Kharkhanagadda in the town.

Students of Bhagavathi High School in Karimnagar participated in the Swachch Bharath programme as part of the birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma. In spite of government declaring holiday for the educational institutions, the students participated in Swachch Bharath and cleaned the streets in front of their school.

Students enacted a skit on the role played by Gandhiji in freedom struggle. A tiny tot donned the role of Gandhi and captivated the audience.

Nizamabad Special Correspondent adds: In connection with the Gandhi Jayanthi, Swachh Bharath was conducted under the aegis of the Indian Medical Association at Vinayaknagar, here on Friday.

Mayor Akula Sujatha, IMA president Vinodekumar Gupta and TRS leader and senior physician J. Bapu Reddy participated in it.

Team Swachh Bharath members whitewashed the compound walls of the District Court Complex after removing all bills on it. Senior advocate Rajkumar Subedar, lawyers and volunteers attended.

Khammam Staff Reporter adds: Students of the Harvest Public School here carried out a cleanliness drive on the school premises on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi on Friday.

The school is one among the 1,000 schools in the country selected for the Central government sponsored school nursery Yojana.

The students took a pledge as part of the Swachh Bharat campaign to keep their school premises clean and contribute their mite to environmental protection.

Divisional Forest Officer (Social Forestry) Satish, DSP (Intelligence) P. Balakishan Rao, school correspondent Ravi Maruth, principal R.Parvathi Reddy participated.
