Former Speaker of erstwhile undivided Andhra Pradesh K.R. Suresh Reddy on Wednesday formally joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the presence of Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao amidst speculation over his career in the party as it has named candidates for all nine Assembly constituencies in Nizamabad, his home district.

Mr. Rao told a meeting at the party office on the occasion that Mr. Reddy will be suitably rewarded. Along with Mr. Reddy, two former MLAs Nerella Anjaneyulu (TDP) and Mr. Bandari Laxma Reddy (Congress) also joined the TRS.

The Minister criticised the alliance being forged by the Congress, TDP, CPI and Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) saying all parties inimical to Telangana were coming together. He expressed confidence that the TRS would win elections even if they were delayed by two or three weeks in November or December.

Mr. Rao said the Congress - TDP tie up went against the objective of the TDP to erase Congress from the political map of Andhra Pradesh.

Mr. Suresh Reddy expressed gratitude towards TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao inviting him to join the party at a time when he was going out of the mind of public. He said he sacrificed his three-decade association with the Congress for the future generations of Telangana.

Nizamabad MP K. Kavitha said the TRS will repeat its performance in the coming elections. Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy described Mr. Reddy as non-controversial. Party Parliamentary Party leader K. Keshava Reddy said Mr. Reddy hailed from a politically conscious family over generations.
