CM pays floral tributes at his native village

Former member of the Lok Sabha Patlolla Manik Reddy passed at Hyderabad on Sunday morning. He was 88. He had represented the Telugu Desam party in the Lok Sabha winning from Medak in 1984 elections.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao, Deputy Speaker M. Padma Devender Reddy, Lok Sabha members B.B. Patil, K. Prabhakar Reddy, MLAs P. Babu Mohan, M. Bhupal Reddy, MLCs Fareeduddin, V. Bhoopal Reddy and others reached here, the former MP’s native village, and paid floral tributes to the departed leader. The Chief Minister, who came on road, travelling about 80 kilometres, left the village immediately after paying tributes. Last rites were performed in the village and Mr. Harish Rao and others participated in the processing despite the incessant rain.

Manik Reddy entered politics in 1980 as sarpanch of Dakur in Andol constituency and joined the Youth Congress 1981. He was the Samithi president in 1982. In 1984 he joined the Telugu Desam party and won as Lok Sabha candidate. He was chairman of Forest Development Corporation from 1992 to 1994. In 1998 he had contested as Lok Sabha member once again but was defeated. He was also chairman of Industrial Development Corporation.

He joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in 2013. After general elections in 2014, he had actively participated in the party programmes.
