Fix FTL for tanks to discourage encroachments: ZP members

May 19, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:00 am IST - SANGAREDDY:

The members of the Zilla Parishad (ZP) have demanded the authorities to fix full tank level (FTL) for every tank taken up under Mission Kakatiya in Medak district so that encroachments could be removed and tanks would be ready for restoration. They have also demanded inquiry into the corruption that allegedly took place in the construction of Indiramma Housing and Individual Sanitary Toilets (ISL).

Participating in the general body meeting here on Monday and presided over by chairman A. Rajamani and attended by Council Chairman K Swami Goud and Deputy Speaker M Padma Devender Reddy, the members expressed serious concern over encroachment of tanks stating that any laxity in this regard would harm the aim of Mission Kakatiya.

Referring to the Indiramma Houses and ISLs, P. Babumohan (Andol), P. Kishta Reddy (Narayanakhed), ZPTC members Medak and Jinnaram, alleged that the officials had failed to pay bills despite repeated appeals by the beneficiaries.

“How would the beneficiaries come forward to construct toilets under Swatch Bharat when the bills for previous works were yet to be paid?” asked Mr. Kishta Reddy. He also pointed out that Collector Rahul Bojja had promised to clear pending bills when he visited Narayanakhed six months back but so far payments were not made.

Probe sought

Mr. Babumohan demanded that an inquiry on corruption be held and a report submitted in the next general body meeting of the Zilla Parishat.

S. Ramalinga Reddy, MLA, Dubbak, said tha the bills were pending since one year.

Collector Rahul intervened and stated that the bills were not paid for those who did not get sanction from the department but made constructions on their own.

While admitting that some delay took place in paying bills for the genuine beneficiaries as well, he said that the government had entrusted the responsibility of clearing bills to him and he had already issued circular to mandal development officers. “The bills will be cleared by special officers as well in the next few weeks. We are also contemplating to grant 50 per cent of the funds in advance to the sarpanches and commence the work without delay,” he said adding that the government had already ordered inquiry on Indiramma Housing.

Referring to Mission Kakaitya, some of the members said that encroachments still existed at many tanks. Mr. Rahul said that a decision on the matter would be taken in the next two to three days and they would be demolished shortly.

Any laxity in failing to check encroachments of tanks will harm the aim of Mission Kakatiya, say the members
