In a gruesome incident, an autorickshaw driver allegedly killed his two daughters by setting them on fire before committing suicide by immolating himself at Vikalangula Colony in the town around midnight on Thursday.

Police sources said S.K. Anwar Pasha, 35, allegedly poured kerosene on his two daughters – Reshma, 11, and Raheema, 6, while they were fast asleep at their home late in the night. He allegedly set himself ablaze soon after committing the ghastly act.

While, Rahemma and Pasha died on the spot, Reshma succumbed to grievous burns during the course of treatment at a hospital here on Friday morning. Pasha allegedly indulged in the grisly act soon after a verbal altercation with his wife and her relatives over simmering family feuds.

He used to frequently quarrel with his wife for questioning his “alcohol consumption habit”, sources added. A case has been registered.
