Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari has directed the agricultural officers to ensure enough supply of seed and fertilizer for the ensuing kharif season in the district.

The agricultural activity would be more this season as there was no power cut and hence the officials should gear up to meet the demands of farmers. The department should conduct awareness programmes on schemes and subsidies available for farmers before the start of the season.

The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing the Zilla Parishad general body meeting with district Collector Vakati Karuna.

He reviewed the progress of Mission Kakatiya, drinking water supplies and agriculture here on Friday. The officials of Horticulture, Revenue, Banks and Agriculture departments should hold village level meetings and should complete the same before June 15 , he said, adding that a total of 1,000 tanks were taken up in first phase of the ‘Mission Kakatiya’ programme for desiltation.

He wanted the villagers to form into committees and ensure success of the programme.

Strengthening of bund, plantation and repairs to sluices should be taken up as part of the programme. “Due to shortage of surveyors, identification of actual tank land was taken up. The Collector will ensure these taking services from outsourcing in next two months,” he said.

Public representatives from various political parties wanted the Deputy Chief Minister to direct the officials to follow protocol and involve local public representatives in all programmes.
