‘Enough funds for Kalyana Lakshmi, Shadi Mubarak’

‘People are slowly becoming aware of the schemes’. The government is ready to extend the scheme for as many beneficiaries as possible.

Minister for Irrigation T. Harish Rao and Deputy Speaker M. Padma Devender Reddy said that there was no dearth of funds for ‘Kalyana Lakshmi’ and ‘Shadi Mubarak’ and the government is ready to extend the scheme for as many beneficiaries as possible.

Rising awareness

Addressing a gathering after extending the benefit for 312 persons at the district headquarters on Thursday, Mr. Harish Rao said that people were slowly becoming aware of the scheme and in the past 45 days, 1,931 applications were received in Medak district alone and the scheme was already sanctioned for 1,281 so far.

“The scheme is eligible for those girls, who crossed 18 years of age and hailing from STs, SCs and minorities. We have received applications from 326 STs, 858 SCs and 744 minorities. The amount of Rs. 51,000 would be directly credited to the account of the girl’s parents,” he said and urged the beneficiaries to explain about the scheme to others as well.

Compensation for martyrs

Referring to Telangana martyrs, Mr. Harish Rao said that the scheme was extended to 52 martyrs so far and Rs.10 lakh each was sanctioned for another three persons – Ishant Reddy, A. Sai Kumar and Ch. Bakka Reddy, who committed suicide.

“We have received another 15 applications additionally and eight of them were already forwarded to the government. We are also inquiring to whom we can provide employment and discussions are on with the families concerned,” he said.

Land distribution

Stating that so far 659 acres was distributed to SCs by spending Rs.30 crore in Medak district so far, the Minister said that the input subsidy for the first crop cultivation would be extended by the State government. Officials were directed to collect the details from farmers.

Ms. Padma said that the people should use these schemes being extended by the government. MLA Chinta Prabhakar presided over the meeting.
