Engineering student killed in accident

Balraj came to the city from Khammam in pursuit of higher education

An engineering student was killed in a road accident on Sunday after he was hit from behind by another vehicle.

The Petbashirabad police identified the victim as K Balraj. He is said to be a native of Khammam and moved to the city a few years ago in pursuit of higher eduction.

Police said that the incident took place at around 8.30 a.m. on Sunday. The victim is said to have been travelling towards Gandimaisamma from Kompally.

Speaking to The Hindu , Petbashirabad sub-inspector of police, Mahesh, said: The victim was an engineering student. He was studying in CMR Engineering College and was in second year. He was hit by a lorry while he was driving his two-wheeler. He died on the spot. The lorry driver hit him and fled the scene. We are looking for all clues and will soon look for CCTV footage to get leads.
