Retired Botany professor of Kakatiya University, S.M. Reddy has been elected President of Indian Botanical Society for the year 2016.

He took charge on October 27 as president at the annual conference of the society held at University of Jaipur from Prof. Bhatnagar of Delhi University.

Earlier he worked as executive council member and Treasurer of the society.

He was also the president of the Indian Society of Mycology and Plant Pathology, President of Plant Science Section of Indian Science Congress in 2006 held at Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu and president of central chapter of Indian Phytopathological Society and Microbiological Society of India. Retired in 2006, Prof. S.M. Reddy is a popular teacher and well known researcher in Botany and Microbiology. Faculty members congratulated him on the occasion.
