The State government would consider the demand for free power to the community drinking water plants in the State, said Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari.
Addressing a meeting of members of water plant management committees from 650 villages organised by Bala Vikasa here on Wednesday, he said he would talk to the Chief Minister on the issue.
Mr. Srihari said he had released funds to set up water plants in many villages.
However, people managing those plants need to be trained like the Bala Vikasa was doing at the plants set up by it.
The Bala Vikasa succeeded in organising people into groups and equipping them with skills needed for managing the water plants. They should also help the people working in different set up as well.
“When we were preparing the manifesto of TRS party during the elections, we studied the models being adopted by Bala Vikas. I feel proud to say that we could select the your model on safe drinking water project in all villages,” Kadiam Srihari said adding that State government was serious about providing safe drinking water in every habitation.
As part of it, the government has embarked on massive revival and restoration of age old tanks across the State under the ‘Mission Kakatiya’ programme.
MLAs D. Vinay Bhaskar and Aruri Ramesh appreciated the work being done by Bala Vikasa.
Bala Vikasa founder Bala Theresa Gingras and executive director S. Shoury Reddy and others shared their experiences in community development work.
The members took out a rally from Collectorate to Bala Vikasa office in Kazipet.
