Deposit licenced weapons: SP

In the wake of elections to the gram panchayats from Jan. 21, Commissioner of Police V.B. Kamalasan Reddy has instructed all the licenced weapon holders to deposit them with the nearest police station on or before Jan. 5 in Karimnagar district.

In a press note here on Thursday, the Commissioner of Police said that weapons should be carried only by security personnel of the commissionerate of police, security guards working at the nationalised banks and public sector undertakings.

The arms licence holders were also warned of penal action if they fail to deposit them. Mr. Reddy said that the weapons can be taken on or after February 1, after completion of election process.
