State government is considering a proposal to give weekly off to the police personnel.

Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao, intervening during Question Hour in the Assembly here on Thursday on a question raised by TRS MLA Balka Suman, said he had already discussed the issue with DGP Mahender Reddy when the latter was the Police Commissioner.

He said that there should be some strain relieving mechanism for the police personnel, be it traffic police or law and order wing. Police were on duty/alert 24x7 to maintain law and order. A decision will be taken soon to give off once in a week or 10 days. The government brought many measures to improve the working conditions of police personnel and even gave good wages to the home guards. A home guard would draw about ₹50,000 by the time he would retire.

The Command and Control Centre would be ready by December and it would be a fusion of technology and serve as an important centre for the entire State government to tackle multiple responsibilities. It would serve people throughout the State in every need, he said.

The Chief Minister also complimented the police force for peaceful conduct of Ganesh Nimajjanam and other public festivals every year.
