The government has decided to extend the Dasara holidays to October 19 to ensure that school/college students do not face inconvenience in view of strike by TSRTC employees.

The schools that were to reopen on October 14 will now open on October 21 (Monday) though officially the holidays are till October 19. The decision was taken by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao during a review meeting with officials on Saturday. The extension of holidays till October 21 will apply to junior colleges and composite degree colleges offering two-year Intermediate courses.

In a press release, Secretary of Board of Intermediate Education Syed Omer Jaleel warned principals and managements of private unaided junior colleges against conducting classes during the holidays. Violation of the rule would be viewed seriously.

To ensure that the school syllabus was taught in time, Mr. Rao ordered cancellation of holidays for second Saturdays. If needed, schools could also cancel other holidays.
