Cost of stents set to fall in State, says Eatala

Minister for Health lays foundation stone for manufacturing unit in Medical Park at Sultanpur

Health Minister Eatala Rajender said that establishing of a stent manufacturing unit in the Medical Devices Park at Sultanpur in the district would benefit the State by ensuring that they are produced at a lower cost. The unit would not only benefit the district but also the entire State, he added.

Addressing a gathering after laying foundation stone for the construction of stent manufacturing unit by Sahajananda Medical Technologies, Mr. Eatala said that this would be the biggest stent manufacturing unit in Asia being set up with an estimated outlay of ₹ 250 crore.

“The development in the State is clearly visible after the bifurcation. This area is conducive for establishment of industries. Once Gujarat was famous for establishing industries and we have replaced it by providing round-the-clock power supply,” Mr. Eatala said.

“Former President Abdul Kalam played key role in reducing the costs of stents. Employment must be provided to locals in these industries and we are ready to provide skill training for them,” the Minister added.

Labour Minister S. Malla Reddy said that employment would be provided to locals with the establishment of the industry. Informing that several industries across the nation are showing interest to establish units here, he said that all the required assistance would be extended to industrialists.

Principal Secretary, Information Technology and Industries, Jayesh Ranjan said that there was space for the establishment of as many as 22 units and even companies from Gujarat were coming to the State.

Lok Sabha member K. Prabhakar Reddy, TSIIC chairman G. Balamallu, MLA G. Mahipal Reddy, MLC V. Bhupal Reddy and others participated.
