Congress slams Harish Rao for his remarks on Ponnala

January 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:06 am IST - WARANGAL:

The District Congress Committee (DCC) leaders took strong objection to the remarks made by Minister T Harish Rao against the

TPCC chief Ponnala Lakhmaiah here on Wednesday. Describing the comments as unwarranted and in bad taste, DCC president N Rajender Reddy, former MP S Rajaiah and former mayor E Swarna advised Mr Harish Rao to learn to respect senior politicians and desist using unpleasant language.

Addressing a press conference, the Congress leaders said the TRS leaders and Ministers were very impatient and ready to attack the Opposition leaders if they pointed out any loopholes in governance. “Mr Harish Rao says the Congress did nothing for the Telangana. He should remember that under the leadership of Ponnala Lakshmaiah 33 irrigation projects were launched and the then government was able to give water from Devadula to farmers,” the Congress leaders pointed out. Mr. Mr Rajender Reddy said the credit for the formation of Telangana State also goes to the AICC president Sonia Gandhi and so also the ITIR project. The TRS leaders should stop blowing their own trumpet and focus on delivering poll promises. “Did Mr Lakshmaiah make any uncharitable comments on the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao? He was only asking the Chief Minister to keep his promises such as underground drainage in Warangal city. It was Mr KCR who promised underground drainage in three months,” Mr Rajender Reddy said. Ms. Swarna also spoke.
