Congress condemns attack on its workers during Durga immersion

October 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - ADILABAD:

The Congress party on Wednesday decried the attack on its activists by the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) workers at Sangdi village in Jainad mandal on October 21. The party warned of a protest in case the attacks on its activists do not stop.

Addressing a press conference here, former District Congress Committee president C. Ramchander Reddy said the attack on five of his party workers came during the Durga immersion procession. The attack took place at the behest of a top government functionary in the district, he alleged.

Mr. Reddy also alleged partisanship on the part of the police. He said the Congress workers were booked under stringent sections of law while the perpetrators of the physical attack were booked under relatively lighter sections.
