Congress chalks out ‘winning’ plan for Warangal by-election

Determined to win the Warangal Parliament seat in the ensuing by-election, the Congress leaders gathered here for a brain storming session on Wednesday. Cutting across their differences, each of them opined it was very important that the party wins this election. District Congress Committee (DCC) president N. Rajender Reddy, former minister Baswaraju Saraiah, former MP S Rajaiah and in-charges of seven Assembly constituencies that come under the Warangal Parliamentary constituency – Warangal West, Warangal East, Station Ghanpur, Wardhannapet, Palakurthy, Parkal and Bhupalpalli attended the preparatory meeting. Trying to lift the morale of the cadre, the senior leaders said people were vexed with the ruling TRS party. The cadre should reach out to people in the villages and tell them how the ruling party failed to keep up its promises.

They should also highlight the achievements of Congress party during its ruling both at State and Centre. At the meeting, the leaders decided to select 10 persons from each of the villages under the Warangal Parliamentary constituency and 58 divisions under Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation by August 5. They would be trained and asked to move in villages meeting people at booth level. “Mr Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit Warangal after August 15 and by that time we want to complete one round of mass contact programme. We will train the select cadre,” said DCC president N Rajender Reddy.   Mr. Saraiah said there were clear chances for the Congress party to win the Parliament seat in the district for which the party leaders and workers should make a joint effort.

“People are waiting for a chance to teach a fitting lesson to ruling TRS party. Not a single promise like underground drainage, textile park, housing, railway wagon factory is fulfilled till date,” he pointed out. Donthu Madhava Reddy, Hari Rama Devi, E Swarna, T Vidyasagar, E V Srinivas were present.
