Compensation for air force station land likely to be increased

After the contemplated increase, the compensation could go up to about Rs. 100 crore

June 21, 2014 03:08 am | Updated 03:08 am IST - ADILABAD:

The scale of compensation for the 1,111 acres of land falling under the limits of Kachkanti, Anukunta and Tantoli villages in Adilabad mandal that has been identified for the proposed air force station, is likely to be more than doubled, according to reports.

The current scale of compensation for this land is Rs. 2.96 lakh in Kachkanti and Tantoli and Rs. 4.24 lakh in Ankoli. The total compensation after inclusion of land value, solatium and additional market value adds up to Rs. 40 crore. After the contemplated increase, the compensation could increase to about Rs. 100 crore, according to sources. Revenue officials debunked the rumour that the value of land in question would go up given the registrations taking place for highly jacked up prices. They said the new Act on land acquisition does not permit enhancement based on ‘shrewd’ registrations of small pieces of land for hiked value.
