Commuters left high and dry

January 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST

Recently, I was standing at the Mettuguda bus stop in the morning to board bus number 290 to go to Vanasthalipuram.

A bus bearing registration number AP11Z7591 arrived at 11:35 a.m. and the driver, instead of coming into the bus bay where passengers were waiting, tried to speed.

Seeing this, I went close and showed my hand requesting him to stop but the driver did not care to stop.

I am a senior citizen and I felt extremely exhausted after having had to wait at the bus stop for about half an hour.

This is not a solitary incident as I have faced similar situations earlier too.

This is a designated bus bay and the driver and conductor should have stopped the bus.

Not stopping buses at the designated bus bays is tantamount to dereliction of duty and hence the RTC authorities are requested to counsel their crew to strictly adhere to rules for the convenience of the public and to avoid recurrence of such incidents in future to avoid inconvenience to commuters who travel on a daily basis and otherwise.

Signboard not

visible to all

The signboard indicating the way to Kachiguda Railway Station at Barkatpura has not been erected on both sides.

It is visible only to those coming from Barkatpura towards Fever Hospital and not in the opposite direction from Fever Hospital to Barkatpura. Railway passengers are thrown off due to this.

They have to go a long way via tourist hotel to reach the Kachiguda Railway Station instead of taking the shortest route from Barkatpura.

I request the authorities to take necessary action indicating the way to Kachiguda on both sides so as to avoid inconvenience to Railway passengers.
