Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s Independence Day speech has been “disappointing” with no mention of about pay revision commission to employees, interim relief, filling up of vacancies, enhancing retirement age and so on, said TS BJP chief K. Laxman on Friday.

At a press conference at the party office in the presence of senior leaders N. Ramachander Rao, S. Malla Reddy and others, he accused KCR of telling the same old stories about removing corruption and providing better administration when the reality is all the development and welfare schemes had come to a ‘grinding halt’ due to the dire financial state of Telangana.

“The Chief Minister has not spared the government employees either and has not announced a single step towards their welfare or fulfilled minimum demands. There is no word about doles to the unemployed youth and he has talked of health profile of citizens when the Aarogyasri is not working as private hospitals are refusing to treat the poor and employees due to pending ₹1,500 crore payment,” he said.

Mr. Laxman said the CM’s ‘stubborn’ attitude has prevented Centre’s Ayushman Bharat from being implemented here. “He has refused because Prime Minister Modi will get credit,” he said. He also ridiculed the anti-corruption campaign pointing out that the government has not given permission to probe scores of cases filed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

With regard to President Ramnath Kovind seeking details about the Inter marks fiasco, the BJP leader they were forced to seek his help and also that of the Centre only because the government has turned a deaf ear to their protests. Several representations made to provide justice to the affected students and also take action against the officials responsible for the lapses was ignored.

Later in a statement, the BJP chief demanded the Government immediately pay up the arrears due to the private hospitals under Aarogyasri scheme and provide succour to the poor people who otherwise would be deprived of timely medical attention.

He wanted to know why the government had not realise the gravity of the situation when the hospital managements took up a protest programme few days ago. Mr. Laxman said contrary to what KCR had claimed in the I-Day speech of having doubled the TS income, the government has become bankrupt due to its profligacy and now got into a debt trap.
