Cheques given to kin of Telangana martyrs

Energy Minister G. Jagadishwar Reddy distributed Rs. 5.3 crore monetary benefits for 53 families of Telangana martyrs here on Thursday. Each of the family was given Rs 10 lakh cheque.

The first cheque was given to Kasoju Shankaramma, mother of Srikantha Chary.

Addressing the families of martyrs, the Minister said the sacrifices of martyr’s were priceless.

He said the district administration has sent the names of 48 martyrs initially and another five names were also sent later which were all accepted by State government.

Job promised

Apart from Rs 10 lakh, he said a job to one of the kin from each family would be offered as promised by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Meanwhile, he said that they would also identify the eligible beneficiaries who sacrificed their lives during 1969 movement and during the past 15 years during the second phase of movement.

The Minister promised that each and every eligible family would given all the benefits. District Collector, P.Satyanarayana Reddy, Superintendent of Police, Vikramjit Duggal, MLAs, Gadhari Kishore and Vemula Veresham, DRO Ravi Nayak and others were present.
