endriya Vidyalaya (Central school) established at Thimmapur on the outskirts of the town with much fanfare in June 2011 sans basic amenities.

The school was sanctioned to Karimnagar town by the Union Government after persistent pleas, which is the second such school after the one in Ramagundam in the district. At present, the school is being run in a temporary shelter on Mahila Pranganam premises on the outskirts of the town.

In the beginning, classes from 1st to 5th were run in the building which was later expanded till 9th grade. By 2016, it will also have 10th grade. Though the government had allocated seven acres of land for constructing a permanent building for the school, and had released Rs. 11 crore in 2011, nothing has materialised so far.

Recently, Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar also sanctioned funds for the construction of two additional classrooms on the present premises to meet the growing enrolment rate.

On the other hand, students have been facing several problems owing to lack of basic amenities such as furniture, and others. Also, the present building is in a dilapidated condition.

They are forced to sit on the floor during class hours. Their parents are a worried lot with the concerned authorities not posting regular teachers as there is no permanent building. There are only eight regular teachers and the remaining 14 are outsourced employees. When contacted, KV Karimnagar principal N.S.S. Prasad said the tender process for the construction of the school building was over and they had also released Rs. 2 crore for the purpose. He hoped that they would soon construct the building and occupy the same. He also mentioned that student enrolment rate has not gone down due to poor amenities in the school.
