State ropes in the services of an agency to prepare the proposals of project

The 21 cement industries located in Damaracherla mandal in Nalgonda would come in handy to Telangana government to press for clearance of the Centre Environmental Ministry for setting up thermal power plants in Damaracherla mandal in district.

According to sources in the district administration, the State government has roped in the services of an agency to prepare the proposals of project.

The officials from NTPC, TSGENCO, Transco and district administration had helped the agency in preparing the report which would be sent to Centre very shortly.

The sources said that since there were abundant deposits of limestone in Damaracherla, as many as 21 cement industries were established over the years.

Some of these industries use fly ash in cement manufacturing which they are transporting it from some distant places.

Since the management of fly ash produced by thermal power plant was a big issue to obtain permission because it pollutes environment, the sources further said the presence of cements industries makes the things simple for State government as most part of the ash could be sent to cement industries.

Moreover, these industries are located around 20 km away from proposed thermal power plant site that also makes the transportation easier.

Since the ash could also be useful in manufacturing concrete, concrete products, bricks, asbestos sheets and in land embankment, they would also encourage these industries to use the ash produced here.

Meanwhile, the location is also having rail connectivity, the sources said that government would also transport the fly ash to other places to dump it at far off places to restrict the pollution of premises.

The State government is going to use very little space out of 7, 500 acres to be acquired from Forest Department for setting 7,600 MW thermal power plant by NTPC and TSGENCO.

The State government would also promise the Environment Ministry to develop greenery in the remaining area besides, offering same extent of land to forest department at other places.
