Body of six-day-old baby girl exhumed

Following a case filed by the Women and Child Welfare Department authorities, the Chandampet police exhumed the body of a six-day-old baby girl at Munavath Thanda of Chandampet mandal here on Saturday.

According to officials, Ambothu Lakshmi delivered a baby girl recently but the girl died within six days. This was Lakshmi’s third delivery.

Her first delivery was a girl too, who is still alive. The second time, she gave birth to twin girls who died within a few days of their birth, two years go.

Going by the successive deaths, officials of the Women and Child Welfare Department, lodged a complaint of ‘suspicious death’ with the Chandampet police on Friday. Though Lakshmi and her husband, Ramesh, said that the girl died of jaundice, a post mortem was performed on the girl. Meanwhile, investigating officers were told by the neighbours that the girl was not being fed properly.
