BJP creating a new narrative: Uttam

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has called upon the cadre to counter the propaganda against the first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Speaking after unfurling the flag marking the Independence Day celebrations here, Mr. Reddy said the criticism against Nehru was unwarranted and it was unfortunate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were creating a new narrative against Nehru.

He said Nehru was the builder of the modern India and his contributions were being undermined provoking nationalism and misleading this generation. He said Nehru went to jail 22 times during the Independence struggle but the BJP leaders spoke ill of him in Parliament. Using the Kashmir issue, BJP was trying to distort the history as well.

He reminded that it was the Congress that fulfilled the long pending dream of a separate Telangana State. He advised the Congress party cadre and the leaders to work cohesively as a team in the ensuing Municipal elections.

Raksha Bandhan

Later, Rakshabandhan was also celebrated at Gandhi Bhavan where women Congress leaders including Women’s Wing president, Nerella Sharada, tied rakhis to all the senior leaders present there. Those were present included former ministers K. Jana Reddy and Mohd Shabbir Ali., Kusuma Kumar, Mallu Ravi, Gudur Narayana Reddy, Konda Vishweshwer Reddy and Anjan Kumar Yadav.
