The BJP will organise protest demonstrations at all mandal headquarters in support of farmers in the district on October 10, said BJP district president A. Ashok Reddy and senior leader Narahari Venugopal Reddy.
They demanded that the State government release Rs. 8,500 crore towards one-time waiver of all farm loans. The Central government has released Rs. 4,000 towards pensions, 97 per cent of subsidy to Re.1 per kg rice scheme, full funding for MNREG scheme and Rs. 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh to each of the Gram Panchayat in the State.
The TRS government should immediately relieve farmers from the debt burden and help them secure fresh farm loans, Mr. Venugopal Reddy said. The State government is blaming the past regimes for the present distress in the farming sector. This government should explain what it did to the farm sector during the past 15 months of governance. The complete responsibility for farmers’ suicides lies with the state government, he alleged.
