Union ministers to visit state regularly, says Defence Minister

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said here that the BJP national leadership has taken a serious view of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s recent remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The party once again discussed Mr. Rao’s comments on Mr. Modi, strongly condemned it, demanded its withdrawal and an explanation on what context it was made, Ms. Sitharaman said interacting with party workers at the residence of former senior leader of BJP V. Rama Rao.

Agriculture priority

The NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made substantial funds allocation for agriculture, towards the welfare of farmers and for the poorer sections of society and it was for the party leaders and activists to convey this to the people of Telangana. Henceforth, there will be regular visits from Central ministers to the State to explain about the various programmes being taken up here with the help of Union government, BJP leaders said quoting Ms. Sitharaman.

She assured to take up with her colleagues in the Cabinet to hold discussions on the quantum of funds made available sectorwise to the State from different ministries. Talks also centred on how to strengthen the party at the grassroots level and make it battle ready for the next General Elections.

The Defence Minister said she will return to the State soon after Parliament session and interact with the party workers once gain to strategise for party’s growth and reach.

TRS faulted

In a separate event, senior leader N. Indrasena Reddy at a press conference later once again found fault with the TRS Party for continuing in the same tirade against the Centre and PM despite the ‘slip of the tongue’ clarification.

Agriculture being a State Subject, he wanted to know what Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had done for the farmers since he did not give a single paisa bonus or input subsidy and loan waiver was not done to fullest extent. Further, he could not avert farmers suicides, among others. Farmers have been totally duped in the last four years, he claimed.
