BJP Jana Chaitanya Yatra reaches Nalgonda

‘Party agenda is bring about change in governance’

Jana Chaitanaya Yatra, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s mass contact programme of informing and motivating people on the Centre’s schemes and the “misdeeds of the ruling party” in the State, reached Nalgonda on Sunday.

After a colourful start of the ‘defining tour’ in Bhongir town on Saturday, the State unit of the BJP led by its president K. Laxman and senior leaders were in the town, addressing public meetings here and later at Chandur.

Owning the idea of re-creating Telangana as Bangaru Telangana, Mr. Laxman said the yatra, prefixed with ‘for change’ was the party’s agenda to bring about a change in governance, while helping all Telangana people achieve their aspirations.

Reminding the audience that "this Telangana" was not the one dreamt by martyrs and the people who strove for it, Mr. Laxman said the state of affairs in Telangana reminded one of the “dark days of emergency.”

“Democracy now is a laughing stock in the State, and at stake,” he said.

Taking potshots at the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, other leaders in the yatra alleged that the progress and development being portrayed by the government “in their pink papers” was fake, and the real truth was known to people on the ground, they said.

Aiming to visit all districts, in 28 public meetings till July 6, the leaders said the exercise would constantly expose the truth of the TRS and discuss the achievements of Central schemes.

Characteristic of the yatra and its agenda, several artistes and dance troupes displayed the culture of Telangana, and songs composed with each Central scheme as the subject caught attention.
