United Muslim Forum faults State government’s handling of Minorities Welfare Dept., its agencies

The United Muslim Forum, a body of faith leaders, on Wednesday urged the community to refrain from cow slaughter during Bakrid which is likely to correspond to August 11.

Speaking to the media, UMF member Syed Akbar Nizamuddin Hussaini said,

“This is a very important issue. At the time of Eid-al-Adha (Bakrid), we the UMF would like to invite the attention of the community to avoid slaughter of bovine animals so that the possibilities of creating mischief are reduced.” The panel urged the Telangana government to direct the police to put in place stringent measures to prevent untoward incidents.

‘Celebrate with peace’

“All religious festivals must be celebrated with peace and harmony,” they said.

The UMF expressed its displeasure at the Telangana government’s handling of the Minorities Welfare Department and its agencies such as the Telangana State Waqf Board (TSWB), the Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation and the Telangana State Urdu Academy.

The body stated that requests for the appointment of 410 staff members at the TSWB are pending with the government.

Masjid-e-Ek Khana

The Muslim panel also demanded that reconstruction of Masjid-e-Ek Khana at Amberpet.
