Autonomy conferred on college

May 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:05 am IST - KHAMMAM:

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has conferred autonomous status on the SR&BGNR Government Arts and Science College for a period of six years (2015-16 to 2020-2021).

In a statement, college principal B Sudhakar said the UGC had granted autonomous status to the Degree and PG College, affiliated to Kakatiya University, based on the report of the UGC expert committee which had visited the college here in November last year.

The autonomous status would help the college receive development grants from the UGC as per the norms and also bring suitable changes if any required in academic matters.

Meanwhile, the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development sanctioned Rs 2 crore to the college under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) for upgrading the college infrastructure.
